
Derrik Tollefson
Derrik Tollefson is a Professor of Social Work, director of the I-System Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (home of Mind-Body Bringing). He previously was the founding director of the Master of Social Work program at Utah State University. He served as interim dean and associate dean of Utah State University’s Uintah Basin campus and as head of the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Anthropology. He has conducted several evaluations of human services programs, including those providing domestic violence, child welfare, mental health, and Mind-Body Bridging interventions. He has served as PI on several state and federally funded grants and contracts, is the author of several journal articles and book chapters, and has presented at numerous national and international conferences on his research and pedagogy. He serves as an officer for the Utah Association for Domestic Violence Treatment and co-chair of the Utah Domestic Violence Offender Management Board. He’s also served on several other governing and advisory boards for human services organizations. He teaches graduate and undergraduate social work courses and holds a clinical social work license from the State of Utah. He received a bachelor’s degree in social work and sociology from Utah State University, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver, and a Ph.D. in social work from the University of Utah. He has previously held academic appointments at Brigham Young University-Hawaii and the University of Utah.
